Effective treatment of constipation

At Brændgaard Physiotherapy, we gently and effectively treat constipation in babies. The treatment takes place at a calm pace, where you can ask questions and there is time for baby to think it is nice too.

We typically find that your child gets better already after the first treatment. A full course of treatment will typically be between 3-6 treatments.

We´ll help your baby with constipation - quickly and effectively.

A typical treatment

The treatment consists of gentle pressure and strokes that stimulate the nervous system, as well as a deep tendon reflex triggered under the foot. Often the baby needs small breaks and some food, which is a priority, so it will be a good experience for the baby. Treating babies takes time as the nervous system has to adapt to the changes. It is always recommended to buy a klippekort.

What do we get?

We treat your baby's nervous system, which often becomes unbalanced during pregnancy and birth. It can be a lock in the neck, back or pelvis that reduces the space in the abdominal region or a problem in the intestinal system itself that needs to be treated. The body is connected, so often parents experience that other problems are also treated during a process, e.g. the urge to lie on your stomach.

Recommendation from a mom

“My 3 month old son has had a great effect from the treatments at Brændgaard Physiotherapy. He had many problems with his stomach and slept really badly at night, but already after the first treatment he made three large diapers on the same day, and he has subsequently clearly suffered less pain, which has resulted in a much calmer boy at night who can find out to stay in the deep sleep. I can only recommend Brændgaard Physiotherapy! ”

Colon

The large intestine comes after the small intestine and consists of four parts, one upward part, one horizontal part, one downward part and sigmoideum. Its purpose is to store, absorb vitamins, resume liquids and make fermentation with the good bacteria that maintain homeostasis in the body (the natural balance between absorption and excretion of substances). Therefore, an imbalance in the colon can potentially affect the entire body.

Some of the things that can be experienced are:
- Abdominal pain, where the baby contracts with the stomach as the center or has pain during defecation. Too much fluid may have been absorbed from the intestine, so the mass becomes too hard and it is difficult for the intestine to get further into the system and get rid of it.
- Deficiency of the good intestinal bacteria. Intestinal bacteria live in an ecosystem, an imbalance can create extra air, which can cause stomach cramps or extra farts. This can typically be experienced in connection with antibiotic treatment, which unfortunately not only affects the disease, but also the intestinal bacteria. If you are breastfeeding, it may affect the baby that you have been given antibiotics e.g. in connection with the birth (this is always given preventively by caesarean section), after the birth or baby has had it.

Locked joints

Stomach problems may also be due to the fact that there are locks that appear as e.g. C shape between baby's head and head. If the C-shape is towards the left side, it will create less space in that side and compress the stomach and colon. This lack of space will affect the bowel's natural movement (peristalsis) and thereby how much mass can be processed - the consistency of the stool. Furthermore, it can also hurt when the food has to pass through this area due to lack of space.
The lack of space in the stomach can affect how much food there can be in the stomach and you may find that your baby is regurgitate a lot.

Typical treatments

Many parents find that doctors recommend medicin against hard stool as a treatment for a long periode of time. In our experience, it is symptomatic treatment and when stopping the medication the problems return. At Brændgaard Physiotherapy, I have extensive experience treating babies with a hard stool, abdominal air or pain in stools.
